I first met Ed Black as someone who would perform services for homeowners at Cedar Slope for very reasonable rates. This could have been while my father, Dr. Arthur F. Pillsbury, was still living or later. It was a minor point and honestly I do not remember much about Black.
At some point he began providing security services for homeowners, watching their homes for them so these would remain secure in their absence. I started paying him and received a poster to put in our cabin window.
I assumed he was offering security services. I knew of no break-ins or thefts but paid the fee since it seemed like a good idea.
Now it is time to move on to the Time Line for a story with many moments which were simply hard for me to believe could be happening.
